Pre-SIHH 2017: Richard Mille showers its lady watches carbon cases with diamonds

The NTPT carbon is for sure a signature element of Richard Mille’s man timepieces. This special material reveals its feminine side in two brand new models, the RM 07-01 and the RM 037, a SIHH preview.

The NTPT carbon is what confers Richard Mille‘s man timepieces their unique and powerful aspect, assuring at the same time the ideal protection to the movement nestled inside.

With the new RM 07-01 and RM 037, the NTPT carbon is enriched by precious gemstones – a processing exclusive to Richard Mille.

This is such as the contrast between the purest diamonds’ sparkle and the mat carbon outlines surprises and captures one’s gaze at every single wrist movement of these two automatic watches, which are spectacular, both aesthetically and technically.

A highly contemporary look that respects all the canons of high watchmaking.

Both the new RM 07-01 and RM 037 present the classic tonneau-shaped case, forming one whole with the strap, for the ultimate in comfort when wearing them.

The gem setting on the NTPT carbon is a significant milestone for the Brand. It is not like working with gold, which allows the watchmaker to manually create, directly with his tools, the setting and prongs to set the stones. The carbon’s hardness and strength imply the usage of special digitally controlled equipment, mounting diamond tools to create the mitraillage necessary to have the pave diamond setting.

The red or white gold prongs, hand polished and produced one by one, are inserted in 0,25mm-wide bearings, and have to secure up to 250 diamonds, as it is in the RM 037 Full Set. Each single gem’s perfectly flush surface reveals the craftsmanship of the jeweller’s art.

The very high technical look of the Manufacture’s mouvements and of Richard Mille’s cases, made of unalterable materials such as diamond and NTPT carbon , make the new RM 07-01 and RM 037 utterly balanced and refined.

Both timepieces present a patented stem-crown construction. This allows the integrity of the movement to be fully protected from external factors.

A rotor with variable inertia has been incorporated into the calibers CRMA1 and CRMA2 as it allows the rotor to be set according to the owner’s activity level. The setting is modified by adjusting the two weights which can be moved into the correct position and fixed in place by spline screws.

Free sprung balance with variable inertia guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shock and also during movement assembly and disassembly, hence better chronometric results over time. The regulator index is eliminated and a more accurate and repeatable adjustment is possible thanks to 4 small adjustable weights located directly on the balance.
