The most valuable handbag in the world, which took 8,800 hours to create, at Christie’s Private Sales.
With a value of US $3.8 million, the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse was certified as the most expensive handbag in the world by the Guinness World Records 2011.
Designed by Robert Mouawad, The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse was born out of the tale of Scheherazade and her king. This epic story of mystery and romance has informed the fairy-tale design of this precious masterpiece.

A combined 8,800 hours of craftsmanship by ten highly skilled artisans were required to place 4,517 diamonds onto the 18 karat white and yellow gold heart-shaped frame, with a total weight of 381.92 carats.

A 5.04 carat F colour, VS1 clarity diamond is at the centre of the heart shape clutch, with a firework surrounding it, incorporating 7.89 carats of fancy vivid pink and 7.66 carats of fancy vivid yellow diamonds, with white baguette and round diamonds placed in a pave style.
No detail is overlooked on this spectacular piece, as even the display box is a work of art.

First offered at the original price of US$3.8 million in 2010, The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, a one-of-a-kind piece, is available via Christie’s Private Sale Team, in London.
