At GemGenève, where the world’s most innovative and masterful jewellery designers converge, Arman Suciyan presented his debut collection, Odyssey, a fascinating exploration of creation myths and divine femininity.

This Istanbul-born artisan, whose career spans decades of meticulous craftsmanship, has woven a narrative of cosmic beginnings and earthly transformation into a series of sculptural jewels that captivate both the eye and the imagination.

Exhibited amidst the vibrant energy of GemGenève‘s Emerging Talents area, Odyssey stands as a testament to Suciyan’s technical prowess and his ability to infuse high jewellery with profound storytelling.

A Tapestry of Myth and Craftsmanship
The Odyssey collection draws its inspiration from the eternal cycle of creation, where the sun rises and sets, constellations spin in celestial orbits, and life emerges from the primordial void. Suciyan’s jewels embody the essence of genesis myths, channelling the spirit of a goddess who ignites life across barren worlds. Within the collection’s sinuous forms and intricate details, one finds echoes of ancient deities – Phrygian Kybele, Babylonian Mylitta, Egyptian Isis, and Greco-Roman Persephone. These figures, symbols of fertility and renewal, are reimagined as a singular heroine whose transformative power manifests in the natural world.

Suciyan’s goddess takes flight in the form of birds – cranes, herons, owls, and the mythic phoenix – each representing a facet of her divine genius. The collection traces her evolution from a pure, elongated droplet to feathers and supple necks, balancing sharpness and softness, motion and stillness.

Every piece introduces order into chaos, with jewel-encrusted designs that shimmer with narrative depth. Crafted primarily in silver, bronze, and gold, the works reflect Suciyan’s sculptural sensibility, honed through years of wax carving and modelling. The result is a collection that feels both timeless and avant-garde, a dialogue between ancient mythology and contemporary craftsmanship.

From Istanbul’s Bazaar to Global Stages
Arman Suciyan’s journey to Odyssey began in the vibrant heart of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, where, at the age of 15, he apprenticed as a goldsmith. This early immersion in traditional techniques laid the foundation for his career. In 1988, he joined the workshop of Misak Toros, a fourth-generation Turkish Armenian jeweller, where he refined his skills in fine jewellery making. Under Toros’s mentorship, Suciyan developed a disciplined architectural approach and mastered wax carving, a technique that would become central to his artistic identity.

Seeking to broaden his horizons, Suciyan enrolled at the Kent Institute of Art & Design in 1994. During his studies, he caught the attention of British jewellery icon Stephen Webster, joining his team as a goldsmith and wax modeller. Over the next decade, Suciyan became a key figure in Webster’s atelier, contributing to some of the brand’s most elaborate figurative pieces. This period sharpened his ability to translate bold concepts into tangible works of art, a skill evident in every piece of Odyssey.
Since 2004, Suciyan has focused on his own designs, splitting time between Milan and Istanbul before fully dedicating himself to his craft in his hometown. His work, often sculptural and bold, has earned accolades from the Goldsmiths Craft Council and the prestigious DeBeers Jewelry Design Award, cementing his reputation as a visionary in the field.
A Vision for the Future
Odyssey is merely the beginning of Suciyan’s ambitious narrative arc. The designer has announced plans to expand the goddess’s saga through episodic collections inspired by the four elements—Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Each chapter promises to delve deeper into the mythology of creation, offering new interpretations of the divine feminine through Suciyan’s signature blend of technical mastery and poetic storytelling.

At GemGenève, Odyssey captivated attendees with its fusion of intricate craftsmanship and universal themes. The collection invites contemplation of life’s origins, rendered in forms that are as delicate as they are commanding. For Suciyan, jewellery is more than adornment—it is a medium for exploring the mysteries of existence, a vessel for stories that transcend time and culture.
As Arman Suciyan continues to carve his path in high jewellery, Odyssey marks a powerful debut, one that heralds the arrival of a designer unafraid to dream in silver, bronze, and gold. With future collections poised to further unravel the goddess’s tale, the jewellery world awaits the next chapter of this mythic journey.
