A warm welcome to 2015 and its sparkling news! I cannot but start with Christie’s South Kensington Jewellery auction, which will take place next January 21st.
An auction characterized by colour and notable volumetric designs. Here are Christie’s (and my) highlights for you.

Each tapered bombé hoop set with fancy-cut peridot within a ruby-set surround of honeycomb design, post and clip fittings, 2.8cm long. Estimate £1,300-1,600.
Signed De Grisogono, no. B6515.

Each crescent-shaped rose quartz drop with applied diamond ribbon details to a diamond-set bow surmount and diamond articulated double line suspension, post fittings, 9.0 cm long. Estimate £ 2,000-3,000.

Of stepped design, each tapered link set on one side with a faceted half-moon shaped rock crystal and on the other with a pavé diamond section, 17.0cm long

The brilliant-cut diamond-set openwork pendant with free moving brilliant-cut diamond collets in the central glazed compartment, to a brilliant-cut diamond twin row pendant loop and cable-link chain, European Convention marks, pendant 4.1cm long, chain 42.0cm long, maker’s pouch.
Pendant and chain signed Chopard, no. 79/6571/0-20. Estimate £ 2,000-3,000.

The old brilliant-cut diamond, weighing approximately 7.72 carats, in a four double-claw mount. Estimate £ 10,000-12,000.

The pavé diamond dial, stepped bezel and brick-link bracelet accented with black enamel spots, with reverse-set diamond crown, case back secured by eight screws, to an 18ct gold double deployant clasp, European Convention mark, case 21.0mm wide, maker’s travel case.
Case and clasp signed Cartier, case no. 8057915, 07710. Estimate £ 6,000-8,000.

Each composed of a faceted rock crystal panel, one over mother-of-pearl, the other over pink hardstone, between brilliant-cut diamond line borders, London hallmarks, finger size O
Each with maker’s mark SW for Stephen Webster. Estimate £ 1,500-2,500.

Each pear-shaped kunzite to a baguette-cut diamond and graduated brilliant-cut diamond flexible line suspension, mounted in 18ct white gold, post fittings, London hallmark, 5.3 cm long. Estimate £ 1,200-1,500.

The first pair designed as a diamond loop suspending a vari-coloured sapphire and diamond flowerhead cluster, clip fittings, 4.0cm long; the second pair designed as a bell-shaped carbon fibre drop with pavé pink sapphire edge and surmount, post and clip fittings, 4.5cm long
First pair signed Bvlgari, second pair signed De Grisogono, no. B66938. Estimate £ 960-1,000.

Each designed as a graduated brilliant-cut diamond loop within a graduated pink sapphire loop suspending pear-shaped iolite drop fringes, post and clip fittings, 5.0cm long. Estimate £ 1,300-1,600.

The pave diamond half-hoop set with a central heart-shaped yellow diamond suspending a two stone drop composed of a heart-shaped diamond of pinkish brown hue and one of greenish yellow hue to curved diamond-set connectors, coloured diamonds untested for natural colour origin. Estimate £ 1,300-1,600.

The multiple cultured pearl strands interspersed with ruby bead spacers with diamond-set foliate terminals, suspending a cabochon ruby drop within a pavé-set bombé diamond surround with single oval-cut diamond collet, to a baguette-cut diamond loop and diamond-set circlet surmount, 42.0cm long

Modelled as a red enamelled lion’s head, the mane with black enamel accents, with green gem eyes, black enamel and brilliant-cut diamond snout, clutching a brilliant-cut diamond loop in its jaw, to a matching red enamel flexible bangle with brilliant-cut diamond collar, internal diameter 5.4cm, London hallmark

The head set with an old cushion-cut diamond within an old-cut diamond surround, with ruby eyes, to the coiled flexible blue enamel body, composite, inner diameter 5.8cm. Estimate £ 10,000-12,000.

The cushion shaped tanzanite within a brilliant-cut diamond surround with tapered baguette-cut diamond single stone shoulders, London hallmark. Estimate £ 1,000-1,400.

The oval-cut sapphire, weighing approximately 7.73 carats, within a brilliant-cut diamond surround. Estimate £ 2,500-3,000.


The necklace set to the front with seven graduated abalone pearl plaques in textured surrounds, accented with cultured pearls, to a fancy-link backchain, 43.0cm long; the ring and earrings en suite, earrings with clip fittings, 2.5cm long. Estimate £ 5,000-7,000.

The central floral carved pink tourmaline to a brilliant-cut diamond surround with baguette and shaped baguette-cut diamond three stone base, with brilliant-cut diamond single stone suspension and three stone pendant loop, 4.0cm long. Estimate £3,000-3,500.

Each faceted cylindrical citrine drop suspended from a long rectangular-cut green tourmaline, to a diamond collet connector, hook fittings, 8.1cm long. Estimate £1,800-2,200.

The pendant designed as a cushion shaped mixed-cut yellow sapphire in four claw mount with brilliant-cut diamond surmount, to a fine belcher-link neckchain, 3.0cm long; the ring claw-set with an oval mixed-cut sapphire to openwork tapering shoulders. Estimate £2,500-3,000.

The floral carved rounded rectangular emerald in claw mount to a circular-cut diamond three stone pendant loop and trace link neckchain, 4.3cm long. Estimate £5,000-6,000.
