An Icon Reborn: Rado Ceramica

Rado Ceramica Konstantin Grcic

A minimalist design icon is reborn: the Rado Ceramica, a timepiece known for its striking linear shape and visionary use of high-tech ceramic, has been redesigned by renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic.

Like the original model upon which it is based, the new Rado Ceramica boasts a strong geometric silhouette, making it ideal for both men and women who appreciate purist, modern aesthetics.

The highest combination of form and matter that gives life to the eleven variants that form the Ceramica collection.

Precision and modernity, reimagined

Two gents’ models offer a matt take on the Ceramica, previously best known as a high gloss timepiece.

Limited to just 701 pieces, Konstantin Grcic’s signature model stands out not only because of its velvety matt finish, but also because of the creative use of typography on the dial (the matt model featuring a small second counter, with grey printed indexes adding to the monochrome minimalist appeal).

Ladies in love with the avant-garde look have several models to choose from, including two diamond-studded pieces in either glossy black or white high-tech ceramic.

Boasting silver coloured detailing and four diamonds on the dial, the ladies’ Ceramica offers the same high-impact presence on the wrist, but in a smaller form factor.

“Materials are key”

As the name suggests, Rado Ceramica is crafted from high-tech ceramic, a material favoured among many high-end watchmakers for its exceptional properties.

Materials are definitely key.

The intelligent and economical use of material forms an important part of my understanding of good design. Ceramic is one of the most high-tech materials I know.

The material is lighter than stainless steel, it has a much more pleasant temperature when you wear it, and it is scratch resistant.
