Parmigiani Fleurier celebrates the ten-year anniversary for the launch of the Kalparisma family with a new, feminine, and charming timepiece, the Kalparisma Nova Galaxy.
The passing of time gently flows in a starry sky on your wrist. This is Kalparisma Nova Galaxy, an elegant and sleek timepiece whose preciousness is in its aventurine dial and its diamond frame.
The aventurine glass was obtained by a mistake in Murano (Venice) in the XIXth century when an artisan glass blower accidentally let drop copper particles into the molten glass. The result was this fine material, whose name derives from the Italian expression “all’avventura” – i.e. “by accident”, to remember this happy coincidence.
The Kalparisma family has a very specific characteristic: the small seconds at 6 o’clock, with a star that spins around every minute.
Both a decoration and a horological complication, the “Nova” star was inspired by a pocket watch in Maurice-Yves Sandoz’ collection which was restored in Parmigiani Fleurier’s atelier.
The back of this watch was decorated with stars which would start to spin once the minute repeater activated.

The small seconds spinning star at 6 o’clock on the dial.
A fascinating animation, and Michael Parmigiani, fascinated by it, decided that one day it would have been part of a feminine watch of his.
The classic “tonneau” shape defines the Kalparisma Nova Galaxy’s case. This form is based on the application of the golden ratio, a geometrical reference which provides a harmonious ratio of proportions, allowing the timepiece to ergonomically sit on the wrist.

Detail of the case and of the diamond setting
The Kalparisma Nova Galaxy is available in two, very precious versions. The first one is in glossy pink gold.

Pink gold and diamonds. Limited edition to 50 pieces.
46 VVS Top-Wesselton diamonds decorate the bezel for a total of circa 0.84 carats. This is an edition limited to 50 pieces.

The Kalparisma Nova Galaxy, as its siblings in the family, lives thanks to the calibre PF332, the first self-winding mechanical movement of the Manufacture, which allowed the first feminine mechanical watch at Parmigiani to be created, in 2008.
The movement, like a jewel, is painstakingly decorated in each component with the finest Haute Horlogerie finishes. Bridges are sand-blasted, drawn out or “Côte de Genève” decorated, then bevelled by hand and rhodium-plated. The 22-carat gold oscillating weight features a guilloche barley grain motif.

The attention to detail is indeed what makes the Kalparisma Nova Galaxy so precious and sought after. So much looking forward to the Maison’s novelties at next SIHH 2019. CC
