Ulysse Nardin enriches its Jade collection with a new and beautiful example of craftsmanship, style and content: Jade “Lionfish”.
Ulysse Nardin’s Jade is the Maison’s signature collection for ladies, at it marked a first in the Manufacture’s history at the time of launch, in 2013.
Jade was in fact the declared commitment of Ulysse Nardin to ladies, by designing and producing an exclusive in-house mouvement, designed in such a way that it does not call for pushing or pulling the crown to set date and time – a concept by all means unique. A dainty crown position indicator on the dial shows which setting needs adjusting.
Today, the manufacturer adds a new chapter of excellence in watchmaking, by presenting the Jade “Lionfish”.
The Jade “Lionfish” is a unique timepiece, in rose gold, displaying all the savoir-faire of the Donzé Cadrans “Cloisonné” enamel specialists on a marine-inspired motif.
The Cloisonné is an enamelling technique in which the outline of the dial design is produced first on paper and then on the dial itself.
Going deep into the details of this technique, extremely fine strips of gold wire (0,07 mm wide, just like human hair) are bent by hand, applied and glued to the outline. The individual cells that give the image detail, dimension and nuance are also composed with gold wire. Colours are picked out for each cell in order to create the cloister effect.
Five layers of enamel are then applied to the cloisonné dial with a brush, and the coloured cells are filled and baked at 800-1200 degrees celsius for a total of five times (or more, if needed). Final step is the polishing of the dial.
These multi-layered colours create the sense of depth and of three dimensions, thus allowing the dial to come to life.
A timepiece endowed with preciousness, set as it is with 56 diamonds and coming with an elegant satin strap with folding buckle, but it also presents a great practical side, thanks to its crown design.
The Jade “Lionfish” watch’s heart beats with the caliber UN-310, it incorporates Silicium components for enhanced precision and durability. With anti-reflective sapphire crystal and case back, it is water resistant to 30 meters. CC
