For Chanel, Baselworld preview could not be hotter. The J12 family welcomes three new variations. Among them, the futuristic J12 X-Ray.
The year 2020 marks Chanel J12‘s 20th anniversary. And the French Maison wants to celebrate in style. Three new interpretations of a timepiece that set a milestone in Haute Horlogerie are great anticipation to what we will see at Baselworld this year. Among them, the new J12 X-Ray caught our eyes.
Nor black or white. Transparent.
Seeking constant change but remaining true to itself, Chanel J12 this year goes beyond absolute colour and goes transparent.
This time it is no longer about white and black high-tech ceramic. This time, a unique sapphire case shows the new J12 X-Ray watchmaking art and reveals all its inner beauty.
The sapphire infuses more light through the plate, timer bridge and cog bridge, and their transparency let more light in to reveal more intricate details.
The dial is also cast in sapphire and it is set with baguette-cut diamond indicators that look like twelve diamonds perfectly floating in the void.
Moreover, and for the first time, a timepiece features a strap composed of links cut from raw sapphire – an authentic and extraordinary world premiere. A great technical achievement that makes the J12 X-Ray a true jewel to wear.
A new watch. A new calibre.
Another uniqueness is the new Calibre 3.1. The Calibre is designed and assembled by the Chanel Manufacture in Switzerland and is the beating heart of the new J12 X-Ray.
And, to add light to light, the J12 X-Ray bezel is set with baguette-cut diamonds for a total of 5.46 carats. More preciousness then comes from the diamond cabochon on the crown, and from the hands in white gold.
The J12 X-Ray is a limited edition of 12 pieces and sets the blueprints for colour interpretation.
