Christie’s Milan will offer jewels from the private collection of late actress Franca Valeri. Online, from 20 January to 3 February 2021.
The online sale ‘La Dolce Vita’ will offer a selection of jewels by great Italian brands such as Buccellati, Bulgari and Pederzani. Among them, more important jewels Italian actress Franca Valeri’s private collection.
From the private collection of actress Franca Valeri
Franca Valeri’s real name was Alma Franca Maria Norsa. She received the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI). Italian actress, playwright, screenwriter, author and theatre director, Mrs Valeri recently passed away last 9 August 2020, aged 100.
A Milanese by birth, Mrs Valeri was a highly respected artist. She also experienced the horrors of holocaust, which she survived thanks to a fake I.D. Her Jewish father and brother managed to fly to Switzerland and save themselves.
Mrs Valeri is a “signora” in the theatre and movie industries. Her characters will forever be remembered as vivid, with ironic views on society, and truly funny. This is why her 60 year-long career is remarkable, as she influenced a whole generation of young actresses.
Franca Valeri’s jewellery collection
Franca Valeri’s jewellery collection features some amazing pieces. These will be offered by Christie’s Milan in the upcoming online auction ‘Jewels & Watches Online: La Dolce Vita’.
The lots in the sale range from Lot 50 to Lot 65, and there are quite a few notable pieces.
Among the highlights, there is a spectacular Trombino ring, signed by Bulgari, 1970s. The ring is in yellow gold and it features a beautiful blue cabochon sapphire of 11.9 carats with diamonds.
Browsing through the collection of Franca Valeri we find this lovely ring with diamonds and ruby, also signed by Bulgari.
Another very interesting jewel, always from the actress’s collection, is this coloured sapphire and coloured diamond ring by Fürst.
When it comes to necklaces, the first one to notice is this torchon necklace with sapphires and emeralds.
The second is a fascinating diamond and cultured pearls necklace.
Last but not least, two more remarkable jewels for you. The first is a diamond ring, by Bulgari.
The second and last highlight is a beautiful diamond watch signed by Jaeger-LeCoultre.
