Last 17 November, Buccellati celebrated the launch of its Macri Color collection. The launch took place at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City with a glamourous cocktail event.
The Macri Color high jewellery collection is a natural evolution of Buccellati’s design and beauty, standing for Italian quality and excellence.
The collection calls upon the existing Macri line. This has been a hallmark of Buccellati’s exquisitely crafted jewels for over 40 years. Macri Color is the latest of various evolutions of Macri, featuring stones with a mysterious charm and bright colors.
The sinuosity of the shapes, given by the softness of the “striped” and “ornate” engravings, and the vividness of the stones combine with elegance, making the Buccellati style perfectly recognizable.
In addition, the contrast given by using gold in different colours further accentuates these creations’ scenographic and highly chromatic effects.
The collection consists of open-button earrings, rings and cuff bracelets. It is inspired by the jewels of the Cocktail line, which elegant proportions and coloured stones enhance all the techniques and craftsmanship typical of the Maison.
For over 40 years, the Macri collection has been synonymous with excellence, quality and unparalleled beauty. Conceived by the creative genius of Gianmaria Buccellati, the second generation of the Buccellati family, this collection exemplifies noble simplicity.
Inspired by the femininity of his daughter MariaCristina, Gianmaria took the first syllables of his two names and baptized the new design “Macri”. He intended to create a jewel with a particular emphasis on engraving techniques.
Therefore, he developed creations with a unique charm, replicating the magical iridescent effect of silk on the gold surface. The typical “striped” engraving gives this distinctive silkiness. Many small and thin lines parallel to each other made of burin create a texture with an incredible shine.
Moreover, a delicate engraving with “ornate” motifs further embellishes the micro sculptures supporting the bezels.
The evolution of the Macri line.
The original line, “Macri Classica“, is exceptionally minimalist: only the expression of a pure, simple and elegant beauty that was immediately recognized and admired worldwide.
Then “Macri” arrived, a collection with more curved shapes and a more decadent style, embellished with rounded elements, leaf-shaped rosettes and shiny balls.
The “Macri AB” line was designed by Andrea Buccellati, son of Gianmaria and is characterized by small flowers formed by four white gold and diamond bezels that alternate with tiny white gold balls.
Andrea also designs the “Macri Giglio” line: miniature lilies obtained through a delicate fretwork technique, thus creating an effect of solids and voids that gives the objects a particular lightness and elegance.
