The inspiration could not be most diverse, with Alisa Moussaieff, the House’s Managing Director, originating from Vienna, and her late husband Shlomo Moussaieff originating from Bukhara, the heart of the fabled Silk Route.

A legendary world that inspired Mrs Moussaieff and sparkled her design creativity, unleashing all the potential of this colourful and vibrant culture.

Therefore, Moussaieff’s creations present strong contrasting colours, blending in round geometric forms reaching full artistic harmony.

As in the romantic and 18-century inspired ‘Girandole’ earrings, where the playful colour scheme is superimposed to their rigid design to achieve perfection, thanks also their dangling elements suspended from a filigree central design motif.

Moussaieff has a long tradition with rare gemstones and pearls trading. They started in 1850, and by 1920s they started selling precious gems and pearls sourced in the Gulf countries to the great jewellery houses in Paris, while opening their own office in Hong Kong between the 1920s and the 1930s.

In 1963 the exclusive Moussaieff’s Park Lane showroom was opened by Alisa and Shlomo, in London, to which followed a second boutique on Bond Street, in 2006 and new boutiques in Hong Kong, Geneva and Courchevel, with Paris to be next.

Moussaieff’s clientele is a loyal one, admiring the House for its exclusivity, its discretion, and its magnificent gems, among which the Moussaieff Red – one of the largest red diamonds ever known – and the Moussaieff Blue which, at the time of its acquisition in 2007 broke the world record for price per carat. CC
