Louis Vuitton designs gleaming armours for the heroines of our times.

The Medieval era saw powerful, strong and determined ladies. True heroines of their times, these were women able to forge their lives and destinies in a male-dominated and often ruthless world.

To pay homage to these daring personalities, endowed with determination, and independence, Louis Vuitton designed their new high jewellery collection: Riders of the Knights.

The collection articulates in unique pieces, each with a strong personality of its own – just like the women who inspired them.

An initial group of fifty designs that went down to two with the addition of fifty more pieces. These are creations that become gleaming armours, made to protect and to reveal the wearer’s inner light through spectacular gemstones.

Central shields, like a blue sapphire weighing 19.31 carats, at the centre of an articulated net set with more than 1.600 diamonds.

Designed according to the shape of the gorget, a piece of the armour specifically worn to protect one’s throat, this necklace, which belongs to Le Royaume group, has an exceptional wearability, and adjust seamlessly on the neck.

Architectural lines, derived from medieval fortresses, shutters, chains and drawbridges guide the design of these epic jewels.

Several months were spent in searching for the emeralds, spinels, sapphires, diamonds and all those gems that compose the collection.

The result is a set of jewels that strikes for the power of design, the playing with dark and light shades, strong symmetries and rigid contrasts that always direct the eye to the central stone.

Like in the group of jewels called La Cavalière, a lady knight which today wears a splendid spinel, surrounded by the brilliance of diamonds, which deep red colour embodies courage and ardour.

Another masterpiece, another necklace, named La Reine, that features nine Santa Maria aquamarines weighing a total of 153 carats. A name, for this jewel, that clearly evokes royal dynastic power.

The name of this necklace, La Reine, is there to recall how, in Medieval times, queens and princesses were true protagonists of their lives, being able to shape their destinies against all odds, and surviving, sometimes, the hardest situations.

Le Royaume, La Cavalière, La Reine… names and suggestions that build a compelling narration, bringing Medieval fortresses governed by strong personalities into today more and more fragmented world. CC
