Fifty-Three High Jewellery pieces bring one of Mademoiselle’s dearest symbol back to life.

L’Esprit du Lion is the new High Jewellery collection signed Chanel, and it originates from the lion found in Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment at 31, Rue Cambon, Paris.

At Chanel, the Lion is an icon.

Leo was Coco’s zodiac sign (as she was born on August 19^th), and she sincerely felt its characteristics and qualities.

This is why the lion was and still is, the protagonist of so many of the Maison’s creations. The lion was part of Coco’s soul, and an intimate link to Venice, a city that she loved so much – symbolised by San Marc’s lion.

In Jewellery, the lion appeared for the first time in 2012, and it developed its language in the Sous le Signe du Lion High Jewellery collection.

The Lion is back.

With L’Esprit du Lion, this year, Chanel’s inner lion imposes its strength once again, representing Mademoiselle Chanel’s quench for freedom and inner spark.

A lion that is apparently tamed by very precious chains, but that instead affirms its power and authority.

A leitmotif in the jewels’ decoration, the lion adorns all the spectacular creations of the L’Esprit du Lion collection.

The lion is a king, crowned by diamonds, sapphires, beryls and imperial topazes, and resting on white or yellow gold thrones.

A legendary creature that gives life to the mythological Chimera, its proud head adorns imposing creations, in a diamond surround. Superb yellow diamonds accent the jewels of this set with a warm, intense light.
