One of A. Lange & Söhne’s most renowned timepieces celebrates its 25th anniversary with a
coveteable limited edition.
Silver colour with a touch of blue. These are the distinctive marks of the limited edition A. Lange & Söhne unveiled at SIHH this year. The occasion was the 25th aniversary of its worldwide famous Lange 1.
The Lange 1 was presented to the public for the first time the 24th October 1994, by Walter Lange (the company founder) and his partner Günter Blümlein.
Since its appearance, Lange 1 stirred contrasting and polarising emotions. Its breakthrough design, with the asymmetric arrangement of its dial, and its technical characteristics, such as the outsized date, made people talk.
What was considered as a provocation, however, almost immediately became a success and, thanks to its unusual lines, Lange 1 became a success.
To celebrate a success which put A. Lange & Söhne on the map of internationally recognized precision watchmaking companies, the manufacture decided to pay tribute to this key milestone with a new edition limited to 250 timepieces.
The Lange 1 25th Anniversary edition still features the manually wound calibre L121.1, introduced in 2015. An opulently finished movement which bears all of Lange quality hallmarks.
The heart of the Lange 1 is guarded by a white gold case, embellished by an argenté-coloured dial in solid silver with printed deep-blue numerals and hours markers, blue date numerals.
The timepiece is secured around the wrist by a matching blue alligator leather strap with a grey seam.
The anniversary is visually marked. The hinged cuvette, in solid white gold, bears a special engraving: the Lange headquarters that date back to 1873, the names of Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein, and a relief engraving of the inscription “25 YEARS LANGE 1”.
