Graphic dials, precious models, collector’s timepieces…the J12 never ceases to surprise with infinite reinterpretations since its creation.
Chanel launched the J12 in 2000. Since then, this timepiece has immediately set itself as the expression of a new allure and a unique design.
The J12 represented, at the time of its launch, a remarkable innovation, with its ceramic body embodying casual and contemporary elegance, and freedom of expression.
Chanel was able to work ceramic and have it transformed into a precious material through a unique manufacturing process.
Chanel’s “ceramic high-tech” renders the black and white of the J12 models in an exceptional way, giving it colour depth, brilliance, durability and extreme comfort.
At Baselworld, in March 2018, CHANEL unveiled a set of 12 one-of-a-kind watches, each decorated with an abstract composition produced in ceramic marquetry.
The numbers float freely on the canvass, and when they meet the J12, they find themselves happily captured by the dial.
The 12 pieces together form a polyptych, displaying a graphic design by the CHANEL Watchmaking Creative Studio.
Following the same artistic spirit, two J12 watches in black and white, with graphics on the dial inspired by the number 12, have been issued in a limited-edition series of 1,200 pieces in each colour.
The J12 Untitled is new, daring, and fearless tribute to a watchmaking iconic timepiece, highlighting modernity and high-tech technology, with a blink of the eye to contemporary art.
Eighteen years after its creation, the J12 continues to appeal and to attract new collectors thanks to its evolving creativity and to its subtle and timeless smartness. CC
