Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève: Girard-Perregaux awarded with the Ladies’ High-Mech Watch Prize

Girard-Perregaux Cat's Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge

Mechanical wonders never go unnoticed. Girard-Perregaux’s Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge has been awarded with the Ladies’ High-Mech Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

Girard-Perregaux’s Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge is a very nice example of the fusion between jewellery savoir-faire and high watchmaking expertise.

The heartbeat of the timepiece is a tourbillon made of 80 components weighting only 0.250 g and making a revolution in 60 seconds, surmounted by a Gold Bridge delicately carved with a floral motif that echoes the dial. A variable inertia balance wheel with gold adjustment screws is there to secure a better precision.

Case and bezel set with 50 brilliant-cut diamonds, buckle set with 14 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total of 1,37 carats. Mechanical manual winding movement and power reserve of min. 70 hours. Tourbillon bridge in white gold, hand polished and engraved, edges and top polished, hand-draw stroke finishing for the sides and underside. Blue or red leather strap with white gold folding buckle set with diamonds.

The Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge is also a very nice example of jewellery savoir-faire, with its iconic oval case set with brilliant-cut diamonds (only VVS to flawless), and its mother-of-pearl dial that is hand-polished before being hand-engraved in a delicate floral decor.

By taking a closer look, you will appreciate how each line has been rounded-off to soften the lines, and how the precise carving in the lower part of the dial leaves the Tourbillon’s mouvement and Bridge in perfect viewing.
